Multi-wavelength Sky Observations - AstroSat and Beyond

The DAASE at IIT Indore is organizing a workshop on Astrosat data analysis in association with the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai and IUCAA . A five day workshop will be conducted with focus on Astrosat data analysis and hands-on training from 3rd to 7th of February, 2019. The workshop will be followed by a 2 day symposium comprising of presentations current and future research in this area.

DAASE students win "IAU 100 hours of Astronomy - Win A telescope" competition

The DAASE students were one of the 10 teams chosen in the world-wide competition Win a Telescope organized by IAU (International Astronomical Union) in collaboration with the Belgian initiative Sterren Schitteren voor Iedereen (SSVI) and Universe Awareness (UNAWE) and they were awarded a Bresser Refractor telescope signed by six Astronauts. The telescope was received from Universiteit Leiden / Leiden University in collaboration with #IAU100. The telescope will be used to organize an event #100HoursOfAstronomy to celebrate a century of astronomy research and discoveries since the founding of the IAU in 1919. The telescope will be further used for other outreach programs. The telescope is signed by Astronauts. The astronauts that signed this telescope are as follows: Dirk Frimout (1st Belgian guy in space) Frank De Winne (He is Belgium's second person in space. He was the first ESA astronaut to command a space mission when he served as commander of ISS Expedition 21.) Thomas Reiter (ESA Interagency Coordinator and Advisor to the Director General at the European Space Agency (ESA). He was one of the top 25 astronauts regarding total time in space.) Ewine van Dishoeck (President of IAU, one of the pioneers of astrochemistry) André Kuipers (Dutch physician and ESA astronaut) The details of the event will soon be published.
