The Centre of Astronomy at IIT Indore is looking for bright young scientists for academic, post-doctoral positions and research fellow positions.

Two research positions available NEW!!

Applications are invited for the post of the following two Temporary Project Research positions in a project under the supervision of Dr. Abhirup Datta, Dr. Siddharth Malu and Dr. Somaditya Sen in Center of Astronomy, Indian Institute of Technology Indore:
1. Senior Researcher
2. Junior Researcher
The work will involve a Data Interface between the Digital Backend and a dedicated Workstation, and pre- and post-processing of data.

The search will commence immediately and continue until positions are filled. Interviews will be held at IIT Indore Simrol Campus, Indore- 453552.

Eligibility: The minimum qualifications for the two positions are:
1. Senior Researcher
Ph.D. or M.Tech. in Electronics & Communications or Radio Physics or Radio Astronomy, with significant hands-on experience with radio instrumentation - candidates who have submitted their thesis are eligible to apply
2. Junior Researcher
M.Sc. in Physics / M.Sc. in Electronic Science / M.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication or Radio Physics and Electronics / M.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering

Honorarium:
1. Senior Researcher – Rs. 9,500/- per month
2. Junior Researcher – Rs. 8,000/- per month

Duration: The positions are temporary. Appointment will be for 89 days or less.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid to the applicants.
 

Faculty position

Applications are invited from outstanding, highly-motivated Indian nationals (and those of Indian origin / holding PIO cards) for faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level.
Eligibility: Ph.D. in relevant areas of specializations and with a very good academic and research record and at least three years of post-PhD Research/Teaching/Industry experience. Candidates not satisfying the required post-PhD experience criterion for direct recruitment as Assistant Professor may be put on tenure track as Assistant Professor (on-contract).

DST-INSPIRE/Ramanujan fellows

Applications are invited from DST-INSPIRE faculty or Ramanujan awardees. The institute seeks candidates for these positions with substantial research experience in astronomy or related field along with strong publication record. The successful candidate/s would be expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing research activities along with participating in expanding the current academic program of the Centre of Astronomy, specifically to establish a Masters program. Post-doctoral position

Applications are invited from motivated and eligible candidates for a postdoctoral position in the research project "Cosmic Reionization with the Square Kilometer Array (SKA)".
Eligibility: Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics or related area. Please note that you should have defended your Ph.D. dissertation.

PhD position

Applications are invited from highly motivated and research-oriented students for the admission to PhD Program in the Centre of Astronomy.
Eligibility:

  • Minimum first class Master degree in the relevant science discipline with valid UGC/CSIR JRF or equivalent fellowship or GATE qualification
  • Minimum first class Master degree in the relevant discipline of Engineering/Technology
  • Minimum first class Bachelor degree in the relevant Engineering/Technology discipline with a valid GATE score
  • BTech from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 8.0
